Query abt Golden Retrievers

Question
Hi,

I had few queries and I was hoping if you could help me out.

I am currently located in New York, USA.

I was planning to buy a golden retriever puppy from one of the breeders registered with the American Kennel Club.

My first concern is if there is a quarantine system in India where I would have to leave the dog in a cell all alone for a certain period of time.

Secondly when I come back to India for good, will my golden retriever be able to survive/adjust with the climate of India, either extreme cold or extreme heat?

Will the retriever health be compromised because of the change in location?

Thanks Pronomita

Answer
One of the best sources of info on travel with dogs are the airlines.  Just call any one that serves India and ask.  You could also browse their websites.  You should have a consulate in New York City to serve you.  They should be able to give good answer too.

Goldens must do OK in India because I occasionally have questions on them from people in India.  I do know that the dog guide school doesn't send black Labs to hotter climates.  I know of a number of yellow Labs including ones I raised that have gone to the Spanish Riviera or Mexico City.  I can't remember any Goldens going to such countries, but they may.  Goldens will do well in the cold if given a chance to acclimate.
