Golden shedding & flaking

Question
my golden has always had consistent skin rashes. the only time she doesn't is if the vet gives her some type of jab. but my sister (who is the active owner) and i do not wish to have to give her jabs all her life. is there a more natural way to cure the rashes? or at least relieve it? the vets here have been of not much help other than to give medication. we feed her a mixture of rice, peas, seaweed, fish & mushrooms (which was recommended for her skin) every day with occasional meat & salmon, as well as the usual wheat-free treats. we've tried tea tree oil, olive oil, medicated shampoo, and nothing has provided much help.

now apparently her "skin-cycle" is too fast but turnover is slow i.e. she has too much dead skin on her body, and the rashes are at their worst (bright red). also because of the yesat accumulation, she now smells. and every time we comb her now lots of hair and dead skin come off. i don't know if it's a good thing for us to comb it off for her. i've recently swapped the normal fine tooth metal comb for a rubber mitt one in hopes that it might not irritate the condition. we also now bathe her twice weekly.

also, just a note to say that we live in singapore where it's always hot or raining, and very humid - just in case it makes a difference in what we should do.

thank you so very much in advance - i'm really helpless at the moment and we love our dog so much!

Answer
Cut out the baths, and switch to a dog chow.  Chances are, whatever is available will come closer to the complete and balanced diet dogs need than any diet you formulate.  Even if you are working from the same list of requirements the commercial dog chow producers do, it is hard to know exactly how much of various nutrients are in the ingredients you buy.  If you won't do that, at least add more fat to the dog's diet.  They must have linoleic acid commonly found in vegetable oils such as corn or soybean oil.

Baths are not good for a dog's skin.  Regular brushing with a soft bristle brush will keep your Golden looking good and control odor if she is eating a good diet.  Most Goldens love the attention of regular brushing.
