Question
I was looking to get a Nova Scotia duck trolling retriever.  What have you heard about these dogs and where might I get one?  I live in chicsgo il.
I have 2 kids(8 and 9) in a rather small house.

Thanks

Answer
They are a rather obscure breed and I know little about them.  Nobody  knows everything.  I do know they do not read their breed description.  You can track down a breeder and buy a puppy.  That doesn't guarantee it will grow up to match what you have read about them.  Puppies are expensive and a lot of work.

One of the best sources for dogs with a predictable personality is the rescue
dogs.  These are dogs that lost their home, but were taken into a foster home
to be retrained as necessary and placed in the right home for them.   You may
find a rescue near you starting at http://www.akc.org/breeds/rescue.cfm  The rescues charge a fee to help cover their expenses, but is much less than the price of a puppy plus all its medical expenses the first year.
