Constantly wanting to go out in the snow!!

Question
Hello :)
I hope you can help my husband and I with this issue we seem to have with our 1 year old Golden Ret. She will bark or whine to go out - thats great - but lately she is doing it constantly - and its all because we have snow on the deck, the ground...etc. She loves it!! She wants to eat it!! She will go out there and dig in the snow, grab chunks of snow and ice and munch away. I don't have time (or desire) to let her out 3-5 times before I go to work. Any suggestions? I would be more than willing to let her bark, but my son works nights so he is sleeping and I dont want the dog to wake him. We have tried to distract her with toys, treats...to no avail. Help would sure be appreciated!!

Answer
If she is barking to be let out, the solution is to leave her out by herself.  If you don't have a fenced yard, use a tether.  They don't mean something out of www.dogsdeservebetter.org One of the made for the purposes cables with a snap on each end and a sturdy flat collar will do fine.  Leave her out for the hour or whatever you spend getting ready for work.  Then bring her in before you leave.

We depended on a tether for years before fencing the back yard, and I still use one when I am working in the front.  We never left the outside when we weren't around or were sleeping.  Right now I am wishing our 12 week old was big enough to stay outside by herself.  She loves it outside.
