Golden Retriever Digestion and Skin Care

Question
My Golden Retriever is two 1/2 years old.  She appears to have a very tempermental stomach and goes through a cycle of throwing up every couple of weeks.  It is not clear whether she is eating "stuff" or just has an upset stomach.

Also, her skin and coat appear very unhealthy.  She has dry or spots that are sore-like in appearance in about five areas underneath her torso.  Mostly on her neck, thighs and bottom areas.  Her coat is very thin in these areas.

Is this a sign of something internal?  Or is there something we could do to help?

Thanks,

Janet

Answer
What are you feeding her?  A well bred Golden should be doing fine on most common brands of dog chow.  Feed a decent chow, brush daily, and seldom if ever give the dog a bath, and it should have a good skin and coat.  While what they choose to add to their diets can cause the digestive problems, it shouldn't be causing the problems with the coat.

Have you talked to the vet about this?  If the above doesn't solve the problem, likely the vet will have to solve the problem.
