Indoor Kennel position

Question
I have an 8 month old Golden female. I have here trained to sleep in an indoor wire Crate(kennel.  This kennel is located in a hallway between my home office and my living room. She seems quite content there and goes to the kennel in the evenings on her own to sleep for the night.
When I leave the house I leave the light on for her.

Is this a good placement for the kennel or should I move it near a window where she can have a view during the day?
When I am home she enjoys playing in the yard, but as I live in Florida she does not like too much of the heat.

Answer
I don't see any problem with the kennel position.  It is not unusual for a dog to seek out its kennel for a nap or when it is ready to settle in for the night.  We keep ours at the end of a hallway, blocking the puppy from going from the kitchen/family room into the dinning room and living room.

She might enjoy the outdoors more in the heat if y9u wet her down.  You might even provide her a sturdy child's wading pool.  Goldens are retrievers, and love a swim.
