Bathing a Golden Retriever

How often should one bathe a Golden, if he is not really getting dirty?  I brush him out every night, and the only parts of him that get dirty are his paws when we go for walks.

I seldom if ever bathe a dog.  We raised a Golden puppy last year.  We never gave him a bath the whole year.  I did notice I had to stay on top of brushing him more than Labs.  A Golden thing, or just him?  A few minutes a day with a soft bristled brush should allow you to go a long time between bathing him.
