Licking Problem

Question
I have two Goldens (One three (Sydney) and the other two (Tristan)). The older one (Sydney) has a licking obsession with my wife and I and anyone else she comes in contact with.
She's constantlt licking your hands, arms, and if you let her, your face.
Since she was a puppy, my wife and I have stopped her from doing this by closing her mouth and saying no lap. But every chance she gets, she licks.
She eats twice a day (1 1/2 cups of dried food) and gets plenty of excercise. Ever since we brought Tristan in, she has loved her and taken care of her as if she was the mother. They get along better than we could have hoped for.

Sydney is very friendly and behaves very well...outside of the licking.

What do you think is causing it?

----I don't know if this matters, but Sydney also has a spot on her bed that she sucks on, she has been doing this even before we got Trisatn.-----

Thanks

Answer
I am afraid it may be part of her personality, a natural submissiveness common in Goldens.  You might try building her confidence.  The dogs see all the
people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in
the pack and a top dog.  Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members
outrank the 4 legged ones.  You can learn to play the role of top dog by
reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class
or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with
a treat. Start at http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/

Play tug of war too, letting her win.  As she becomes more confident, She may not feel she must show her submissiveness as much, and may lick a less.

Correcting her more than you are may only make things worse  convincing her she needs to show more submission by licking more.
