Question
We have a 6month old golden, a 5month old basset, and a 13 yr old golden.  My questions are concerning the 6 month old golden.  Just so you know the goldens are duck dogs.  the pup was chosen for that purpose.  She refuses to listen to me.  When I let the dogs outside she will refuse to come in the house instead  running in mad circles around the yard as I call for her.  She also shows alot of dominant behavior.  She continuously jumps up on me no matter how often I bring my knee to her chest.  If I am sitting on the couch she will run up and throw herself on me.  She will come up to me and just nip at my hands.  She will trip me because she has to walk in front of me and stop blocking my path.  I try to make her move but she again refuses.  When we are eating she will lay her head in my plate.  If I am talking to my boyfriend or sitting next to him she will put herself inbetween us, only the top part of her body as she knows she cannot get on the furniture.  My Basset cannot hardly move around the house because everytime he gets up to move she will get up and straddle over him and force him to the ground.  She also tries to stradle the older golden.  She steals everything from the other two dogs even though she may have the same thing, she will horde 3 bones so she is the only one that has any.  I am told she is a good hunter and because of this my boyfriend refuses to see her many flaws.  This makes things hard for me as he thinks I am favoring.  I will be honest with you... I have grown to really dislike this pup.  I have never been fond of goldens because their energy and attention seeking ways don't mesh with my personality but I have no problems with the older golden.  I don't know how much longer I can take this I am tired of this dog causing arguments between my boyfriend and I.  By the way I am not the only one who has these problems with her just the only one that lives with them.  Please help me find a way that I can co-exist with this dog before my relationship takes a hit.  Thank you.

Answer
yes i know how you feel my golden did the same thing before we trained her! well if you don't already have a cage or a kennel you should definitely get one for her! and ever time she steals something, or gets in your way purposely just tell her no once as a warning and if she doesn't stop put her in her kennel. DO NOT LET HER OUT IF SHE STARTS BARKING! you will teach her that that`s what she has to do and she wont stop! thats the mistake we made with our golden! And with the whole outside thing you could take her out on a leash showing her that it is just for going to the bathroom and not for play until she gets older, but that would be a lot on your hands. but really try the kennel idea and write me back if you are still having problems!
