5.5 month Golden food problems

Question
I have a 5.5 month old male Golden who is generally great.  My first question is with food.  When we put his food down we ask him to sit before we feed him but once he starts eating he is off to the races.  He finishes 4 scoops of food within 1.5 minutes.  If we sit next to him he starts to growl and he eats faster.  is this normal?  We don't dare put our hands in the food afraid he would bite.  What can we do to be able to give him food and take away food without fear?  My second question is what can we do about getting a bone or anything that he is chewing away because he starts to growl and show his teeth when we go within 10 inches of him?

Answer
Ok. Both of these questions have the same problem. And they are very serious ones too. If your getting scared when he is such a small puppy, imagine an adault! Everytime he is eating from his bowl, slowly take a treat and go near his bowl and call his name, give it to him happily. Slowly get closer to the bowl. Finally walk up to the bowl and put the treat in the bowl and keep your hand in the bowl for a while. If he growls, dont be mad, just go to the beginning steps again. If he doesnt resist, just pick up the bowl and walk away in his sight, put yummy treats into it and give it back. He will understand that you are not taking it away. About the bone, when your giving him the bone to chew, hold one end of it in your hand, kneel next to him and give him the bone.(with your hand holding it, so he chews the other end)HOld it for a long time and finally take it away and give it back with praise. If you dont understand anything, email me. Bye.
