puppy coat shedding

Question
Hi, i live in a country with a tropical climate and i recently acquired a golden puppy when he was about 7 weeks old. He's about 10 weeks now, but i've just noticed that he's losing his fluffy puppy coat around his lower back area, just above the base of his tail. There are no bald spots but the fur in its place is rather coarse and short, and lie flat against his back.

I understand that golden retriever puppies lose their puppy coat at some point, but is it normal at this age?
Thanks!

Answer
They would not be shedding like that here.  What are you feeding?  Do you have the common brands of dog chow available, Iams, Purina, Pedigree, Pro Plan, Science diet? They are the surest way to give a dog the complete and balanced diet it needs.  If a dog isn't eating a good diet, it can have all sorts of problems including skin and coat.  If only adult chow is available, your puppy will do fine on it, only growing a little slower, taking longer to reach adult chow.  It is very difficult to formulate a good diet for a dog yourself.
