Question
My 7 month old female golden retreiver got neutered 1 month ago even before she got her cycle. She goes to the bathroom to pee 4 times a day. Past few days after she pees in the bathroom she wants to pee all around the house thou only a few drops at a time. When i take her to the park the frequency seems to be more. Strangely she exhibits this behaviour only the mornings and at night and will not last more than an hour. Is this a physical or psychological problem?

Answer
Sometimes it is hard to say what is going on.  It usually is best check with a vet and clear up anyphysical problem first.  Spaying a female usually leads to fewer behavior problems, but can create them temporarily.  it is possible the problem will go away on its own.

You may need to be giving her better leadership.  Dogs need good leadership.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Start at http://www.dogsbestfriend.com/
