Question
I have a 1 year old male golden retriever.  He is very loving, and I don't worry at all about him biting anybody.  But if I let him outside and there is a strange person or animal around he charges for them barking.  When he gets to them he just wants them to pet him.  But I need to stop this behavior, as it scares people who do not know that he is not going to hurt them.  Any ideas on what is causing this behavior and what I can do to prevent it?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Stephanie.

I had the same problem. Keep him on a leash when outside. When he sees someone let him slowly go to the person and once he is infront of the person. Tell him to sit. Eventually he jog up to the person and will sit infron of them without going crazy.
