Golden eating everything

Question
I have 2 goldens that are inside dogs; one 4yrs and one 14yrs.  We have had to cut back food due to weight gain.  The 4yr old will get into the trash and tear up/eat anything.  Also, will reach up on kitchen counters and eat a whole loaf of bread or whatever she can find that we forgot to put away.  Is this behavior issues or diet issues?

This looks like more of a behavior issue than a diet issue. To get rid of this habit, first try to clear the counter and not leave any food on it. In case you forget you could place a piece of food with tobbasco sause on it.( make sure he doesnt like tobasco!) If you dont have tobasco, put anything edible that he hates on a piece of a juicy steak or whatever he steals. Be CONSISTENT> if you forget to use the substance, the behavior will continue. I am sure this will get rid of the problem. And as for the trash deal, try putting the trash at and unreachable place or use thos metal ones where you have to step on the pedal to open it.
