10 month old Golden...

Question
My 10 month old Golden weighs around 65 lbs. I know that he's overweight but I really don't know what the problem is. I feed him three times a day and even though I can't walk him everyday, I usually take him on a mile walk ever other day. I try to interest him in fetch and he will play for not even 5 minutes before he lays down with the ball. I just want him to be happy and healthy. What should I do?

Answer
Just cut back what you are feeding a little.  You should be feeding an all life stages food now. Switching to an adult chow for the larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
