Question
I have noticed that since winter came, my dogs hair has become a little more course.  Could this be because of the cold weather?  His coat never was real thick, he has a thinner hair coat, but it seems to be course feeling on his tail and behind his neck.  His chest is still really soft.
Is this something to worry about, or could it be the weather drying it out?

Thank you

Answer
As long as most of his calories come from a commercial dog chow, his coat should be fine.  with some of the cheaper chows, some dogs may need a spoon full of ordinary liquid cooking oil.  The coat will vary with how much cold he is exposed to.  A daily brushing will help keep it soft and clean.  that way you won't have to give him bathes.
