Question
Zeus
My bulldog Zeus is a 14 months old, weighs 80 pounds, eats Wellness Core dog food only (occasional cheese for treats), 2 nuvet wafers daily, 1 flora force probiotic and one vitamin e daily. He is allergic to something and his back is covered in spots that bleed when I brush him. The vet yesterday gave him a cortisone shot and some antibiotics for 10 days. What else can I do for him? Should I switch to Innova dog food? He does't have fleas or ticks. ALSO, I feed him 3 cups of food daily, doesn't seem like too much food but he's so big. Should I switch to a low calorie version? Do people with these allergies issues just go get a cortisone shot every couple of months? Help! and thanks!!

Hi Louann and Zeus- I would keep him on the Core - if you want you can go to the Core OCEAN flavor - you can mix your core with the Ocean Core - and after a few weeks to 100% Ocean flavored Core....
Also, YOUR baby should be on 2 Flora Forces per day - sorry, if I said one but with his weight 2 will be fine - long term...VERY safe and natural / just a Probiotic ( not a drug)......
Continue with the Vit E and the 2 NuVET wafers per day.
Please call the NuVET folks and ask for the Tea Tree oil HOT spot shampoo, give him a bath in that weekly. Also, ask for the Hot spot tree tree oil spray - apply this to his "spots"/ on his back....The Tea tree oil mix - spray is healing and soothing.
No more cheese for treats - only use the Wellness Core - grain free treats for this boy.
**3 cups of this Condensed food is fine / it is very compact and full of great ingredeints...
Add a Vit C to his program ( 500 mg of ESTER C ) just 1 per day - don't worry - it comes out in the urine and you can't overdose on C.
Must be ESTER C because that is easy to digest.
Ester C can be found at any pharmacy or Walmart.
Ok, the shot and antibiotics are fine when your baby has a flair up... May be food and Environmental Allergens......
Bullies have such Allergy troubles.
Give the NuVET and all the other supplements time - good food and nutrition takes time to build a blood level.
Also, you can give him a benadryl at bed time ( 25 mg ) - just for when he has some discomfort.
Call 1-800-474-7044 and ask the Tea tree oil shampoo and the Hot spot treatment... each are under 10.00
Use order code 81098 - give my name : Marie Peppers ask your VET OR pet Professional...
Keep me posted!!!
Zeus is soooooo cute!!!!!!
