Question
I have a 5 month old male rate terrier.  He developed kennel cough/ bronchitis and was given Clavamox and a cough suppressant.  He was eating Royal Canin food for puppies but about a week ago I switched him to another breed.  He started the medicines 3 days ago and until that point was eating and drinking and going to the bathroom fine.  About 2 and a half days ago he slowed down his eating and drinking and hasn't done anything but pee.  I think he is probably constipated but I haven't even seen him try to go.  I called the vet but they are not open for the rest of the day or weekend and so I was wondering if their were any other things to try to get him to go.  He is very lethargic and shaky.  Could the antibiotics or change in food be contributing to the constipation?

Answer
My apologies that you found me rude, unclear and not helpful, Brianna.

I am not sure what else you wanted from me. Either the antibiotics or the food change could cause constipation. Usually constipation will not cause lethary, not eating, not drinking and shaking although it is possible. Since your veterinarians are not available until MOnday I suggested several things you could try now in case it is constipation.

One that I did not suggest that may help his general feeling of shakiness and ill health is Rescue Remedy (get at a health food store). Put 1 drop in a bowl of water in case he wants a sip. Put 4 drops in an ounce of water and give him a few drops of that -in his mouth or rubbed on his ear flap.

If he becomes more lethargic as the weekend continues and he still will not eat any of the goodies I suggested in the first answer, you may need to visit and emergency clinic.
