Question
I hope you can help me.  I have been trying to get in touch with my vet, but have not been able to.  I have a 6 1/2 wk old boxer.  I took him on Friday to have his first checkup.  I was told that he has round worm, tape worm, and coccidia.  The vet gave 2 types of wormers there in the office and Albon 5% Suspension for the coccidia that was sent home to continue.  He acted fine before and after the visit.  However, Saturday he was very sleepy all day and would not eat -- but would drink water.  Now it is Sunday and he still will not eat and will not drink water either.  I do not know what to do.  Like I said, I cannot get my vet - or any of the vets in the clinic to answer their phones or return my messages.  Please help me!

Sincerely,
Booker's Mom (Laura)

Answer
Sorry it took awhile to answer, I had some things going on here at home. As far as why he is not eating, I cannot give you an answer since I can't see your dog. I encourage you to keep trying your vet. It is Monday now, so maybe you have gotten ahole of them. A lot of them aren't open on weekends. Especially Sundays. In case you haven't yet reached anyone. I'll try to help you get him to eat. One thing you can do is give him canned puppy food or the kind in the pouch that has chunks of meat and gravy. It has a stronger more enticing scent and with encourage him to eat more. Well, I hope this helps until you can figure out what is wrong. I could be a side effect of the medicine. That's why I really hope you can get ahold of your vet. Have a good night.
