Question
Thank you.  Have you heard of Chondro Flex II?  More importantly, this Ester C is something I was unaware of.  Do you know which brand is good or where I could order it from?  My vet does not carry it apparently.  Maybe I could order online if I know a reliable brand.  Also is that definitely the dose?  Lucy is 79 lbs.  Thanks.

I just moved to Florida and my new vet here does not carry Heartguard.  My five year old lab mix has used Heartguard her whole life.  This vet carrys only Interceptor.  Do you know if that is as good a product as Heartguard, or should I go elsewhere to get the Heartguard?  Also, for Lucy's hip dysplasia I have been giving her a glucosamine and MSM suppl. but it does not have have chondroitin in it.  Can you recommend  a product that has all three in it and is a dependable product?
Answer -
We use Interceptor exclusivley where I work and it is an excellent product.  It actually controls more intestinal parasites than Heartguard.

GNC makes a product called TRIFLEX that has all three ingredients in it.  I would give her 2-3 capsules of that twice a day.  (Or ask your vet about Synovi G3 soft chews which we use quite a bit for arthritic dogs.)

Also, ESTER C is very good for the joints and you can add 500 mg twice daily to her diet as well as Omega 3 Fatty Acids (Fish or Flax oil), which act as a natural anti-inflammatory and are also good for the skin...try 1000 mg twice daily.

Answer
I have not heard of Chondroflex.  I have heard of GLYCOFLEX II and that is a good product made by VetriScience.  Your vet may carry it or you can get it from pet catalogs.

Ester C with bioflavonoids is your best bet and there are so many companies that I can't really recommend just one.  Yes, 500 mg twice a day is appropriate for her size.
