Question
My dog got sick the beginning of summer.  He ate a rabbit killed and left by our cat. He responded to the medication the vet proscribed. This repeated twice more/ he found a rabbit left in the yard by our cat and got to eat some of it before we saw him.  He has been throwing up and having diarrhea on and off all summer.  The last medicine the Vet. proscribed was Metoclopramide and Ciprofloxacin but he is near the end of this batch of meds and he is still throwing up and hardly eats anything. He had a blood test and his numbers were slightly elevated to show he might have pancreatic irritation.

Answer
If your dog has been sick for four months that is a long time. Has your vet tested this dog for Tularemia? It is often carried by rabbits. From what I am reading your dog ate dead rabbits twice and has been sick from each one.

He either has a very inflamed pancreas or he has the bacterial infection called Tularemia. He needs to be checked for it since it can be passed to humans.

I don't know where you live or if Tularemia is in your area but it is prevalent here on the west coast.

Also, without knowing what his normal diet is I cannot tell you which is causing the upset- the rabbits or the diet.

Ask your vet for some other tests geared toward rabbit-carrying diseases such as the one I mentioned.
