Question
Hi, my dog, a lab, has kidney stones and my vet to me to reduce the amount of protein percentage in her food. Right now she has 22% of protein in her food.  How low she I go?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Bruce!
An easy answer to this question, is to get your dog on a special diet that your veterinarian should sell.  It's Hill's Science diet K/D formula, or Hill's Science diet C/D formula.  Stones develop from crystals.  These foods break down the crystals, making it impossible for them to form stones.  These foods would greatly improve your dog's health and the amount and size of the stones.  If your veterinarian does not sell these foods, you can have him/her call another animal hospital in your area that does sell them, and let them know that you need to pick some up. These foods are not much more expensive then commercial dog foods, and I am sure that they would help your dog's condition.
I hope this helps!
