QuestionWe have a hampster, shes black and white, have no idea what type or how old she is..got her from a friend..her fur is looking wet underneath her tail and where she urinates is looking swollen or protruding. shes acting fine eating and drinking and she is alert. Is this something i should worry about or take her to the vet for?
AnswerYour hamster should see a Vet. as soon as possible. Antibiotics should be given right away. Wet Tail in a hamster is diarrhea, which can dehydrate the little thing very quickly. An intestinal organism causing diarrhea won't go away on it's own, it has to be treated. You can get a book on hamsters in you pet store. It will give you more information on common hamster problems and how to avoid them. Good Luck
