Question
Hi. In the past few months my cat has been licking her fur off. She's still very pleasant and active and plays with us and our other cat. This behavior started shortly after I found out I was pregnant. It got worse when we turned her cozy bedroom into a nursery. She tries all the time to get in the baby's things. The baby isn't born yet so I don't know if she can sense i'm pregnant and is worried or what. Please help us figure out what is wrong with her!

Answer
Yes she can sense it and yes she is stressing over this. Any new changes in a household are stressful for a cat and this licking is one way they manifest stress.

Really the only thing you can do is have your vet look her over and prescribe something that will help her transition through this.

There are things like natural pheromones that you can spray around the house that might help.

But first have the vet look her over to rule out any other underlying causes. Hormone imbalances are one thing that can cause this.

Congratulations on the baby!
