Pregnant Cat

Hello Jana,
  There was a litter of kittens born at my house last year, and although we were able to get most of them fixed, there was one that was too clever to catch. That cat is now pregnant. She has since then grew more attached to our family, but she is still moderately afraid of us. She is an outside cat who was born behind our garage. The reason she and the other kittens could not be placed into homes is because the majority of them were wary of humans because the mother moved them, and we did not see them until they were older. Should we leave the cat outside, or should we allow her to give birth in an unused room to properly socialize her kittens as they grow up?

Answer
Yes get her in the room and start socializing her as well so you can get her spayed as well when these kittens are weaned.

That way you can hold these babies and start them on the road to being sweet kitties to adopt out.

Well it's funny how a domestic cat gone "feral" can suddenly decide she WANTS humans to help her!! Makes me laugh.

So have fun with the babies until they are out the door to more responsible homes!

Be careful as well because some cats will come back into heat and get bred when the kittens are only three weeks old. So keep her locked up as tight as you can!!
