Question
Hi, I have a 5 month old Lab puppy that I am considering having him neutered. Before I make this important decision I would like to know more about it. Is there any serious risk that are involved and what are the benefits of having this procedure done. Any information or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your time.

Answer
Hi Miranda! Some people worry it will make the pets fat or lazy.Others worry that the procedures are dangerous or simply unnatural. The fears are misguided.Neutering does not cause pets to gain weight or change their personality. No surgical procedure is without risks, but neutering and spaying are both extremely safe.In fact, the procedures can help your pet live longer by reducing the occurrence of certain tumors as well as by making less likely to roam or fight.Although most people take excellent care of their dogs and cats, the American Humane Association estimates that about every ten million pets are euthanized in animal shelters every year.Reducing the number of UNWANTED pets by having animals spayed or neutered is perhaps the best way to prevent this unhappy fate. The best time to neuter your puppy is between about six and eight months of age.Even pets that are older can benefit.

I hope this is helpful and please keep me posted!Good luck and give that labby some kisses for me!
