Question
Hello,
I have a female Jack Russell Terrier.  I would love to take her with me places in the car, however, every time I do, she gets sick.  Is there something I can give her before I travel with her that will stop this.  This occurs on very short trips and long ones.  She keeps getting sick several times through out the entire trip in the car.

Can you help?

Answer
Hi there!  Car sickness in dogs is actually way more common then you think.  Throughout studies, it has been determined that this is motion sickness caused by anxiety.  You can talk to your veterinarian about prescribing something to calm your dog down before travel...something even as simple as Benadryl, which will calm the nerves, allowing the dog to have an enjoyable car ride.
I hope this is helpful,
Hilary
