QuestionI have an 8 month old male tabby who recently developed an allergy to chicken and chicken by-products. The situation is that he has never had a solid stool. Recently blood appeared in it so I had a fecal test done and it came back normal. No hook worms or anything like that. He still has a healthy appetite and full of energy. My question is what brand and flavour of food can I get for him as most foods I have found contain chicken by-product. Is there a food that I have to buy directly from a veterinarian? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
AnswerHi Tammy!
has your vet done a giardia/cryptosporidium test yet? if not request it. has your vet also tried metronidazole for help too? (antibiotic/anti-inflammatory) also has your cat been dewormed regardless of the fecal results?
also your vet should determine whether or not its a true food allergy. diets such as z/d and IVD diets with rabbit/pea, duck/pea, venison/pea. when animals have allergies, you must find foods of protiens that the body normally wont recognize.
speak to your vet :)
