Cats not eating

Question
Our 14 year old cat is eating significantly less than usual.  The weather has been very ot and humid and I am wondering if that could explain her decreased appetite.  Thanks  joan

Answer
Most likely not.  Cats tend to like hot weather.  Since she is older, I would recommend a trip to the vet to have some blood testing done.  Older cats are very prone to kidney disease which will cause a decrease in appetite.  She could have some other problem like bad teeth or have a fever from an underlying infection, etc. etc. so an exam will get to the bottom of it.
