Traveling with Cat

Question
I am moving from Michigan to Mississippi (about 800 miles away - 13 hour drive) and I'm concerned about how to get my cat down to Mississippi with me.  I've heard that I can have him sedated so that he'll sleep the whole way.  Is this safe and will it be the most effective way to have him travel with me?  Also, do you know how much this generally costs?  Thanks!

Answer
You can ask your veterinarian for Acepromazine that you can give by mouth prior to the car ride to help sedate him....it really depends on the animal and the dose as to whether or not they sleep the whole time but at least he will be relaxed.  A few pills will cost $10-15.
