Question
My Yorkie got into some hershey kisses.  What will be her reaction? what
should I watch for.  It was about 4 hours ago.  She just threw up some
phlem stuff.

Answer
Chocolate can be poisonous and toxicity is dose dependent.  If she just ate a few hershey kisses, then there isn't likely to be any serious reaction except maybe for upset stomach.  Here is more info on chocolate intoxication for you....

Dogs that have ingested chocolate may seem spastic or very hyper or anxious. Some will seem to be unable to sit still and will have a rapid heart beat. Xanthines affect the nervous system, cardiovascular system and peripheral nerves. Chocolate also has a diuretic effect. Some clinical signs can include:

Hyper excitability
Hyper irritability
Increased heart rate
Restlessness
Increased urination
Muscle tremors
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Convulsions and seizures

The amount of chocolate that can cause death depends on your dog's size and the kind of chocolate he steals. Baking chocolate has 6-9 times as much theobromine as milk chocolate. Milk chocolate contains 45 mg of theobromine per ounce and unsweetened baking chocolate contains 400 mg per ounce. Theobromine when ingested by dogs causes release of epinephrine (adrenaline) which causes the heart to race and serious cardiac arrhythmia's to develop. Signs of chocolate poisoning in dogs include vomiting, diarrhea, excessive urination, hyperactivity followed by depression and coma, seizures, and death.
