Glucosamine Pills

Question
Hi,

I have been thinking of giving my 10 year old dog (110 pound Rottweiller) human Glucosamine and Chondroiton Pills.  I planned on giving her one pill a day of 750 mg (name brand Osteo-Bi Flex). The ingredients include dietary fiber, vitamin C, manganese, sodium, glucosomine HCL, chondrotion sulfate and boron.  Is it ok to give these human pills to my dog?

Thanks,
Heidi

Answer
Hello Heidi -

Yes, it would be fine to give "human" glucosamine chondroitin pills. The milligram dosage is fine and is what's in most pet brand supplements. I would suggest administering this twice per day.

Osteo Flex is a reputable supplement and you should see good results in your pet in about a months time. You may also want to condsider giving your pet a good "pet" multi-vitamin and supplements of Vitamin A and Omega 3 fatty acids such as fish oil or Evening Primrose. These will also aid her body systems and work with the Glucosamine supplement.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet.
