Question
l have to begin fluid therapy for my crf cat, however l find it odd most of the fluids have sodium in the solution, which he is very high in and needs to lower. ld imagine salt would rob the body of fluids??   ls there a homeopathic alternative? couldnt l just inject  pure water and perhaps some kidney beneficial herbs with it??

Answer
Hello Jenn -

I just received your email today, I guess there was a problem with the Allexperts site. I am very sorry.

Saline solution injections for humans and animals are very beneficial, believe it or not to those who suffer from RF. Solutions such as Lassix help to rid the body of additional fluids that are building up and may cause harm. Salt does rob the body but no so in this case, it actually works with the body systems and will aid is proper elimination. Give your cat the required treatment.

I work only with herbs and supplements and I am not aware  if there is a solid homeopathic treatment. I recommend you add herbs such as Dandelion Root, Uva Ursi, Horsetail and Cranberry to your pets diet. You can make a glycerin based tincture and add it to the food. These herbs are good diuretics and are not harmful to cats. Please be careful when researching alternative therapies as some cannot be used on cats. A good example is Tea Tree Oil, never use this on or around your cat, it is highly toxic.

I hope this information has helped you and your pet.
