Question
I have a rescued dog that I have had for about 5 years. He is about 6 years old. He is shepherd/chow mix as far as we know. I feed him ultra-premium kibble plus some raw, organic meat. He has had seizures since I have had him but started out mild and he did not lose consciousness, now he has grand mals. I have only witnessed these early dawn hours or late night around midnight. They last around one minute or less. He is a bit confused afterward but then ok. I feed him as soon as he will take something after the seizure, trying to restore blood sugar. This friday, I put Advantage on him which I haven't done for over a year. He had a seizure that night plus another the next night. He has had 3 now for this month and has never had that many. I am wondering if the Advantage attributed to this. I only have him on Ivermectin for heartworm preventative. I hate to put him on phenobarb, etc for seizures because of all of the side effects. If the seizures become more frequent, I know something must be done. I saw a natural seizure tincture online called, EaseSure. Do you know anything about this or if it is effective? I pray that he will not have an increase in these seizures and am afraid to put anymore flea medicine on him. Unfortunately, I think this med stays in their system for a month for fleas. Sorry I did it now if it caused more seizures. Do you have any recommendations? Thank you.

Hi Rosemary - you are correct - the Advantage for fleas and tics is a big mistake for a dog with seizures.... ( any level of seizures)-
See if you can wash off some of it...PUT him in the tub and use some Dish washing liquid like DAWN -  suds up the area for five minutes and then rinse... I know 80% of it is in his system already but it is worth getting the residual off his skin.

NEXT - I would place him on a few herbs - don't know much about the product -  you mentioned, sorry.
I do know we have had great success with my clients taking the NuVET supplements daily - I would give him 1 1/2 wafers per day of the NuVet Supplement each day/  NuVET is an Immune system booster ...
Call 1-800-474-7044 ( tell them you want a 90 count of the NuVET Plus and you will be taking 1 1/2 per day)

ALSO - Melatonin works well and is safe:

For canine seizures I forgot to mention melatonin- it is very safe and natural...
**Let your vet know about the Melatonin and NuVET if you decide to start supplements.
here is the recommended dosage :

WHERE CAN I BUY MELATONIN?
You can purchase Melatonin anywhere vitamins and supplements are sold. **The brand I buy is by "Natrol" and it comes in 1mg and 3mg tablets. You will want to get the natural made, vegetarian and not time-released (Natrol is vegetarian).
Generally a dose of 3mg is appropriate for a 35-100 lb dog.
Smaller dogs get 1.5mg, and larger dogs may get 6mg.

Keep me posted - The NuVET will take 3-4 days to get over to you... But, you can go out right now and get the Melatonin...

BEST of luck to you..
USE critter oil to keep away the fleas and ticks..
Just google Critter oil or Cedarcide oil is great too..
Natural - Just spray on - every other day...or so:
NuVET helps to keep away the Fleas and Tics, too.
