"hi, i have a 3 1/2 year old male frenchie that has has had this weird skin? rash?allergy? something, off and on his whole life. its like a bump under the fur but when you look closer its very dry like bad dandruff that comes off and takes the hair with it. i thought for a while it was caused by temp. change from hot to cold, but lately it's bad and isn't going away. when one spot clears another shows up. i have mega money in my baby (cherry eye) but at this time i cant take him in. please if you can narrow it down for me, maybe something over the counter i can do to make it go away. he doesn't itch, he's indoors, and rarely is he around any other dog or person etc. I'm bad, his dogfood is beneful, healthy skin and coat, but i can't say no and make him a plate for dinner, what i eat. not a bunch of different things as I'm picky, but he helps me eat better cause i know he will have some to.
please help if you can

Hi Kristine:  Please take your baby off the Beneful food and just make your own dog food:
here is an easy recipe - make this for him 2 x per day -
NONE of your table food unless it is :  meats, green beans, peas, sweet potato, yams ... that's it.

As for washing him - Give him a bath in Johnson and Johnson Baby shampoo 2 x per month - rinse well.
brush him 3 -4 x per week with a good brush - not too rough - soft but still gets down to the skin thru the Frenchie fur.

Recipe:
Dog meatballs or you can make it a meat loaf - just use a LOAF pan:

DOG MEATBALLS-

Dog Dog Food Recipe by Michele, provided to her by her vet.

Ground chicken 1/2 lb  ( USE ONE MEAT or TWO Meats - up to you)
Ground beef *lean  1/2 lb  
4% small curd cottage cheese  1/4 cup
2 cups Oat Meal ( Quaker brand or other)
peas 1/4 cup
string beans 1/4 cup ( Use both veggies or JUST One )

2 tablespoons salmon or fish oil (health food store or break open capsules from grocery store)
3 eggs
1 boiled yam or 1 good sized sweet potatoes -this is great protein and helps keep everything moist.
3-4 Tums - crush or break up ( this offer caclium ) (** YES - TUMS)
Mix together and make into meatballs or BAKE in a Loaf Pan ( dog meat loaf)

Bake them at 350 until they are completely done.  ( 20-30 minutes)????

Freeze into bags and warm up in microwave until warm and serve.
They should love it and it is all digested so there is very little waste and smell.

It should help your baby's skin and coat - I bet he has allergies -
