Sick Sucker Fish

Question
I have a Sucker fish that was given to me by a cousin who was going into the army a few months ago. When he brought the Sucker fish over it had a little red bump on his head. My cousin said he may have gotten hurt in the move.
Well after a few weeks it was still there but not any worse so I put some pimafix in the tank, that I had for a sick goldfish awhile back thinking maybe it would help. Well the bump did go away. Well about a week ago I noticed a big area on the underside of the Sucker Fish has the exact same thing. It almost looks like red boils or blister. Very strange! I have looked all over the Internet and can't find anything. Thanks so much for your time and help!

Answer
Hi Tish
That may be a bacterial infection, but I"m wondering if it's burns from the heater.  That's actually a fairly common injury suckers get, they latch onto the heater to eat and get burned.  I was just reading something about that yesterday.  I'll see if I can find the link again...

I would keep using the PimaFix and I think they say on that article also they used MelaFix, won't hurt using both of them.  I think they also mention something about getting a heater guard so they can't get to the heater.

Hope that helps and good luck!
