gourami behavior

Question
I have two pearl leeri gouramis whose behavior has changed recently.  They are in a 55 gal community tank with 2 angels, 3 swordtails, 3 brochis, and a 4 line cat.  They have always chased each other around the tank since i got them about 6 months ago.  3 weeks ago they started to flare out their fins and swim around each other in a rising spiral, almost like they were in a tornado.  Today I saw them locking mouths.  Is this aggression, and if it is, would one of them do OK in a 10  gallon with 2 platies?  All water parameters are steady ammonia 0; nitrites 0; nitrates 5-10;pH 7.8; temp 79.  Thank you in advance for your time.

Answer
Hi Christine:  That is certainly aggression.  you can put one in the ten gallon with platys and he would be fine.... you can also think about getting a third to see if it would calm them all down.  Do you feed them enough??? usually aggression is caused by hungry fish.  dave
