Tank heaters

Question
Would it be ok to put a 1-3 gallon 7.5 watt aquarium heater in a .5 gallon acrylic tank?

I have a betta in a 1 gallon tank. Unfortunately, being in college I have to take the fish with me on weekends I go home. A gallon tank is difficult to do that with so I have a half gallon acrylic tank for those weekends, but as the temperature drops I realize I should get a heater and cannot find any for tanks smaller than 1 gallon.

Answer
Hi Jackie

That would be fine for a .5 gallon tank. However, a smaller tank will heat up faster, so use a thermometer to keep an eye on the temperature. If it goes above 82, you'll need to either turn the heater down or unplug it for a bit.

Hope this helps you, good luck!
