scaless fish

I have a 55 gallon aquarium. I have a couple of gold fish in it. Recently i have noticed that one my gold fish is loosing his scales and i would like to know how i could fix this problem? Does it mean that he is going to die? Should i take him away from the other gold fish?  Anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Because I can not moniter your tank, or see a picture, I can not be for sure of the cause. However, make sure other fish are not fighting with him or picking at him, because that is definitly a cause for loss of scales.

If you see and signs of fins wearing away, or white, cauliflower like masses then it is a fungal disease and needs to be treated with medicine purchased from a store, such as Maracyn 2.
