Question
Hi,

I've got a 75L Aquaone tank that has 5 large plants, one angel, one bolivian butterfly cichlid, one rams butterfly cichlid, four neon tetras, four harlequin rasboras and one bristlenose catfish. I've had my zebra angel for a month now, I originally had two and two weeks ago one of them died. It had stopped eating for about a week before it died. The living angel was fine and eating voraciously until about a week ago (a week after the other had died) and now will not eat at all. At one point it looked like he had swallowed something too big, it looked like he kind of choked on it. Now sometimes his mouth gapes a bit when he opens it. It seems to me like it may be internal parasites, or hes hurt himself... I have had the water checked twice and there was no problems with it at all so the aquarium shops said (two different shops).

Which seems more likely and what should I do?

Answer
Hi Renata:  I doubt your angel has choked though im sure that is possible...it sound to me like the little guy has an infection of some kind... I would treat him with an antibacterial treatment immediately and buy some aquarium salt and began to add that to the water by its directions... also would not hurt to raise the temperature about two degrees....any of the myacine types of antibiotics would be good... I hope this helps and please keep me informed about his progress.... Dave
