Growth on Fantail

Question
My tank is 35 litres and been running for over a year. The fish in question is a fantail and appears to have a thin white growth on its tail fin that, to be honest, looks like a headless worm! The tank has two Black Moors and a Borneo Sucker in. I run a Fluval 1 Plus filter. PH is about 8, ammonia is very low as well as Nitrite. I change 10% of the water once a week, which is about 3.5litres or just under a gallon. I have noticed that it has grown within the last couple of months and is about 5mm long and towards the end of the fin.

Answer
Hi Matt;

If it seems threadlike and off-white, it could be an anchor worm. There is medication to treat them but the worm may have to be manually pulled out. Here is information about it;

If it looks like that part of the tail itself is just thickened or discolored it could be scarring from a previous injury or something. Sometimes fins will split and grow back together that way.
