Fish not swimming

We have several fresh water Angel fish, one of them is laying on the bottom of the tank and not moving at all. It is pritty alive because it moves pritty strong when we try to catch it with a net. Is there a treatment for this? What are your suggestions? Thanks.....Rolando

Hello Rolando:  A couple of things may be at issue here.  first, the angel may be being picked on by the other fish at which point it would try to hide behind something or by laying on the bottom.  Second issue may be a form of poisoning such as ammonia or nitrite poisoning where the fish may hover at the surface to try to gulp air and then lie on the bottom of the tank as the poisoning increases.  If the fish is being picked on you will need to separate them.  If not I would try a 20% water change and a really thorough gravel cleaning.  hope this helps dave
