Question
Nice and simple Q this one. In your opinion which is the better external filter....EHEIM or FLUVAL? The reason I ask is this. I have just aquired a 40 inch tank @ 200 ltrs. Ive decided on an external filter, but don't know which make is the better. Your advise would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi Dave
Well, I"m afraid it's not a simple question lol :)  Honestly, it just comes down to personal opinion, if you ask anyone you'll get a different opinion.  But, I've never owned a Fluval-thought I did, but was mistaken.  I have 1 Magnum(bought used), 1 Rena Filstar, and 1 Eheim, and of those it's a toss up between the Magnum and the Eheim. I would probably lean more towards the Magnum for ease in cleaning and starting back up with the least amount of mess.  When I bought mine, I couldn't decide which to get, I'd heard good things about all of them, and again, everyone had their own opinion, so I just left it up to price and at the time, those were the ones on sale.  For what it's worth though, I've heard good things about the Eheim and the Fluval, both good brands.  Sorry, I know that probably doesn't help you much, but if I had to pick, I'd go with the Eheim-only because I"m familiar with that one.  Try posting to other experts, maybe someone has had experience with both of them and can give you a more definitive yeah or nay.
Good luck!
