QuestionHello Karen! I was wondering if it made a difference in if the "Cory cats" I had were all of the same breed or not. I currently have two albinos, a panda, a skunk, a peppered, and a julii. They all get along but the albinos and sometimes the skunk seem to ignore the rest. I was wondering if they only school with their same breeds or if it mattered or not. I know they all get along but happier fish usually mean healthier fish! Any insight on this would be great! Thanks for your time.
AnswerHi Michael,
Cories do seem to recognize their own "species" from the others. But I've seen both cases where two different cory species will school together easily while other instances they will keep to their own kind allowing for that extra adventurous individual who occasionally strays from the shoal.
I've always mixed different cory species together and I feel as long as they are in a group and they have some hiding places, they will be quite comfortable and healthy.
Best wishes and Happy fishkeeping!
Karen~
