Question
hi, i have 2 Senegal bichirs and they've been great since the day that I've got them. one is a 8'inch male and the other is a 6'inch female. they eat alot and seem to curl up next to eachother when they rest. but just recently the male started acting weird. he would chase the female around, bump her, and slightly nip her. i don't think either one of them is old enough to even think about breeding, so what do you think is going on here?

Answer
Well that is a good question..
I had two Senegal bichirs years ago when they first came out on the aquarium market. Mine to did the same things, i did a lot of research trying to answer this very question. That was over 8 years ago, and today I am still not exactly sure, but i can make an educated guess for you.. As you know they become very territorial as they get older, well i t could be that the male is just not in the mood for the cuddling and what not. There are some fish that have extreme personalities, and this could be the cause. As for breeding, yes they could be to young, but they will still initiate breeding behavior if the water is perfect.

sorry i cant help you more i feel like
i didn't really give you an answer at all.
