Albino tiger oscar

Question
I have an albino tiger oscar that I got today in a 30 gall. tank.(I know that sounds small but they said at the pet store he would be fine and won't grow that big.) They said at the pet store that he would be fine by himself. Then when I got home I found on the internet that they need a place where they can take cover. I don't think he can fit in the barrel thing I have and the rest of the decorations he can't hide under. As soon as i put him in he hid under a plant, but he barely fit under it. Does he need a decoration to hide under or will he be fine without one?

Answer
The pet store lied.....when it comes to most chain stores or stores that just hire teens....the advice is usually pretty bad.
The crappy part is that a 40 gallon would be enough but a 30 isn't.....I know but 10 gallons makes a big difference in this case.

Ummmm.....for oscar deco....well.....they dig in the gravel so all of your fancy plants that rely on gavel to anchor them down will be floating eventually....unnn.....they have plants that have anchorson them already (like a mold of gravel or a plant affixed to a rock)....these would be better as far as plants went.

I don't suggest fake caves and castles as it does look tacky and a fish that gets as  large as an oscar will only use them for so long. Try either Utah lace rock (some call it bull rock) or Malayasian root wood and stack it in such a way that it makes a little cave or a "bridge" type structure that he can sit under.
