Question
i have 2 breeding sets of african cichlids.. one pair is albino and one is "ahli" or zebras. should i put the couples in thier own tank until they hatch thier fry and then seperate the adults from the babies? what kind of hiding places/plants should i put in to make them comfortable?

Answer
Amber,
some africans are mouth breeders so it becomes difficult to seperate the babies..however the parents dont often turn on them.
I would wait till the babies are all free swimming and looking like fish, then move them, you could if you choose seperate them as soon as they are free swimming and eating.
give them rocks and caves to hide in, small terra cotta pots turned sideways work well...
good luck
