Identifying my chiclid

Question
Hi,
I bought a pair of so-called 'parrot fish' but after researching on the Internet about it. I am unable to figure out what breed is it exactly.

I would want to put up a picture of the fish, but don't see that on the website.

The fish is about 4 inches and  3 inches. The larger one has pink color with a bit of orange and the smaller one has orange color with a bit of pink. Both of them have a distinct black stripe in the middle (vertically). They look very similar to the bloody parrots i checked out online but do not have a red color.

Kindly let me know how to identify as i want to breed these fish.

Answer
What you are describing sound to be juvenile blood parrot fish that have been injected with the pink color you referred to. Most blood parrots start off a dark greenish black color and as they mature some tend to get the orange to orangish red color. This is actually a hybrid fish that is a cross between a parrot fish and a green severum typically. The pink is artificial and will fade over time as it was injected at one time prior to being sold. If these are a variation of the blood parrot, to my knowledge these fish are sterile. The female will lay eggs but the male cannot fertilize them.
Best of luck and happy fish keeping.
