Cichlids have ich

Question
Good morning Alex,
I am a relatively new African Cichlid aquarium owner. I have a 75 gallon Cichlid tank with around 15 cichlids. Around 5 or so days ago I noticed some of the fish rubbing the sides of their bodies on either the rocks or the gravel/sand. now some of the fish have white "dots" on them and the rubbing of the side of their bodies is continuing. From what i was able to read on the internet I believe my cichlids have "ich". I've read several different methods on the internet on how to cure it - from medicine to heat treatment. I have also read of risks that come with each method of treatment. I would like your opinion Alex on how to treat this disease, as you have an outstanding reputation and your opinion is the one I would follow. I just don't want my fish to suffer or be uncomfortable or in the worst case scenario - die.
Thank you for your time,
Gabe

Answer
Gabe,

I am not Alex but i can help you. The treatment i use on my Betta's seams to work out real well. I turn up the heater to 86 degrees and then I start the treatment for the fish. I put 1.5 teaspoons of aquarium salt to 1 gallon of water. I put my infected fish in that solution for 5 mins. Make sure you watch the fish, so that if there is a problem you can remove him right away. The i take 1/3 the salt bath to 2/3 his tank water and I put him in there for 15 mins. While i wait i change his water in the QT including a water conditioner, the I  add Rid/Ich to his tank as per the instructions on the bottle. If you see a lot of white dots then the infection is well along. The reason we up the heater is that the heat speeds up the life cycle of the parasite to get it to the treatable stage.

I hope this helps and if you have any more question don't hesitate to ask. I check my messages quite often throughout the day.
