Question
Hi, i have a question about a tank i am going to set up and the question is; would a leopard bushfish go well with 9(maybe more) tiger barbs, or would it eat them? The barbs are on the large side( about 3" each) and the tank will be 75 gallons with plenty of plants, caves etc..and the
other tank mates would include maybe 3 weather loaches and a pair of kribensis cichlids.Would this work?

Answer
Hello Mary,

Thanks for the question.  My first concern was the tiger barbs, but it wasn't that they would be eaten, it was that they may eat the bushfish, however, if you buy a large enough "pack" of them, they may leave the bushfish alone and spar amoungst themselves.  They like to nip fins when then are few and far between.  Then I thought of the loach, slender eel like and could be a nice snack for the bushfish, if bought big enough, it could survive.  As for the other cichlids, those will be alright.  If you can achieve a good balance of barbs, I think the tank would be alright, however, I would use a large tetra, like a congo or similar in size for the tank and that would be fine as well.  Sounds like it will work though.  If you have any other questions, feel free to write.

Sincerely,

Adrian
